I don’t say it out loud enough – fuck the Trump administration. Fuck him and everyone associated with him.
State Department employees are now required to “report on any instances of coworkers displaying ‘ant-Christian’ bias” as part of an effort to support employees of Christian faith working in the federal government.
This effectively makes it an HR issue if you manage to offend a Christian coworker by reading, say Richard Dawkins, or admiring Sir Ian McKellen, or talking about the movie Contact.
I admit I sometimes unconsciously grimace when someone asks me to pray with them or join them in some other religious habit/ritual. I mostly respect your choice to believe in what you want, but fuck off with the preachy shit too.
But now I have to police my feelings in the work place, lest I show evidence of committing thought-crime.
This is being spun as encouraging “religious freedom” and addressing certain forms of stigma against Christians, but it is inevitable that it will be misused and abused and used against already marginalized groups like the LGBTQ community.
On a side note, a local politician is running on a platform of “increasing the presence of the spirit of our lord in schools and government” – fuck that guy.
